There are many germs on things we touch every day and it is important to practice good personal hygiene. One of the best ways to safeguard yourself from germs and illness is to wash your hands with soap and warm water. As children we should have been taught good personal hygiene such as wash your hands with soap and warm water after going to the bathroom and before you eat. With the spread of viruses on the rise it is very important to wash your hands after touching anything that is used by other people or may contain germs.
Think of all the things you come in contact with every day that may contain germs and things that are touched by many people like money, credit cards, pens at the store checkouts, public restrooms, door handles and cell phones. Equipment and benches at the gym are used by many people. Many gyms have antibacterial wipes and paper towels to wipe down equipment. Bring some antibacterial wipes with you and take a few seconds to wipe things off before you touch them. Always bring a towel to lay or sit on. When you go on an airplane bring antibacterial wipes and wipe down your seatbelt, chair handles and tray tables when you first get on the plane. Use paper in the restrooms cover seats, to flush toilets, turn handles and open doors. Use paper to turn handles and open the doors wherever you go to give yourself a little more protection.
When you feel a cold or the flu coming on do yourself and everyone around you a great favor by STAYING HOME. Many people go to work or school or fly on an airplane or take public transportation when they know they are sick and this is how illness is spread. When you feel sick take care of yourself at home and keep your children home when they are sick. This is another great way to prevent the spread of illness.
By taking a few minutes to wipe objects down you will greatly reduce your chances of contracting an illness and help prevent the spread of germs. If you do get sick stay home and consult a physician if you have symptoms that are unusual or severe. Do not take chances with your health or the well being of others. It is up to all of us to work together and take precautions to prevent and take precautions so we don’t spread illness.
Love and best wishes,
Tracy
