HAPPY ST. PATICK’S DAY

St. Patrick’s Day commemorates Saint Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland and celebrates the heritage and culture of the Irish in general.  Celebration generally involves the parades and festivals and wearing green attire and shamrocks.

This year will be the second year that we will not be able to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in the usual fashion due to the Covid19 virus.  There are many ways to safely celebrate the holiday and keep it fun for your family.

One way to celebrate Irish culture is to make Irish Soda Bread which is a simple bread made in Ireland and there are some twists added to the recipe here in the United States.  Find some fun and easy breads to make online ask and friend or family member that is Irish.

Wearing green attire is traditional on St. Patrick’s Day so bring out the green, the shamrocks and dress up.  Make a traditional Irish dinner like corn beef and cabbage, virtually attend a St. Patrick’s Day parade, whip up a shamrock shake and make a green dessert for the kids.

The Luck of the Irish is a phrase traced back to the 1800’s in California during the gold rush when it became apparent to the thousands of unlucky prospectors that many of those who struck gold and became rich were of Irish descent.

Take this day to feel the Luck of the Irish and have fun and look forward to the coming days of the Covid19 pandemic being put behind us and life getting back to normal.
