STAY POSITIVE STAY HEALTHY

The key to living a long and healthy life is to eat healthy, get daily exercise and reduce your stress.  As we all know the spread of the COVID-19 has many people feeling more stress than usual and many feel helpless against the virus.  Stress creates excess cortisol which makes the body store fat and  puts your body in a fight and flight mode.  Holding on to feelings of stress and helplessness can cause you to become physically ill.  Stress has been linked to diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and cancer.  Stress also reduces your immune system’s ability to fight off antigens and reduces the effectiveness of the immune system.  This makes it important to reduce stress and think positive thoughts.

The country has been attacked by this hidden enemy, COVID-19, and people are being asked to stay home and use social distancing and greatly restrict their lives.  The reality is many people have not been struck by the virus and many people have recovered from the virus, yet many have scumbed to the virus.  Those who are taking care of themselves by eating healthy, getting some exercise without being at a gym or in a group setting are reducing stress just by doing these two things.  The other things to do are to stay at home and when out in public make sure you are six feet away from other people and wash your hands frequently.

By doing these things you will improve your health and eliminate the risk of getting sick from any virus and you will be protecting yourself from many diseases.  Knowing you are doing everything you can to keep yourself and your family safe will greatly reduce stress and help you stay positive and healthy.
