Every day in our busy lives there are a number of things we need to accomplish. There are many daily tasks that we need to complete like preparing meals, taking kids to school, going to work and grocery shopping. These things are on our must do list of tasks. The things we want to do go on a list that may be in the future. Take a vacation, run a marathon or learn a new skill may be on our future list of things to do. These are all very important whether they have to be done or not, but changing the way you think about them may be the key to accomplishing them.
When you think about the daily to do list do you think of it as a drain on your time or something you don’t want to do? What if you started thinking about what you get to do every day. I get to wake up in the morning and fix a healthy breakfast for my family. I get to go to the gym and workout for 90 minutes before work. I get to train every day to prepare for a marathon. This brings a whole different meaning and purpose to your life. Saying you get to do these things makes them a joy instead of a chore. Now they are not a drain on your time they are a journey to your destination. The journey is the most important part to enjoy on the way to your destination. Life is not about the destination it is about the journey.
This type of awareness creates a lightness to life and a joy for each day. Enjoy the journey because you never know where life is going to take you.
