WHEN TO STOP

Many people have problems knowing when to stop doing something they know is causing them problems but the continue to do it anyhow.  There are ways to combat bad behavior or habits and some of the ways are already in the body.  Many people struggle with overeating and they cannot figure out why they do it or when to stop eating.  This is simple to figure out if you listen to your body and give it a chance to let you know when to stop.

When your body needs food the hormone Ghrelin stimulates your appetite and lets you know it is time to eat.  This is a good time to prepare a healthy meal or snack and sit down to eat your food.  When your body is full the hormone Leptin is produced by the fat cells and is considered the satiety hormone that reduces appetite.  This is how the body is enabled to get the necessary nutrients it needs to function and to control weight. 

Eating too fast or eating while distracted can cause you to miss the body telling you it is time to stop eating.  It takes about twenty minutes for the hormone Leptin to give the signal that you are full.  Therefore, it is important to sit down to eat without distractions and to eat slowly, which is also great for your digestion.

Every time you eat a meal, or a snack be aware of how you feel.  Your body will let you know when to stop eating.  Most people are aware of how it feels to overeat, and it is not a good feeling.  Overeating at one meal on occasion will not increase your weight but doing it on a consistent basis will cause weight gain which can lead to high blood pressure, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes and even cancer.

By staying in touch with your body and choosing heathy foods it will be easy to take control of your health and maintain a healthy body.
