This year Super Bowl Sunday is going to cost more whether you are going to the game or staying at home due to the increased prices of everything. Tickets to the game average $2,500.00 to $3,000.00 and as of today, according to ESPN, tickets are $8,070.00 for the cheapest seats. I am unable to help you find cheaper seats, but I can tell you how to save money on your Super Bowl Sunday meals and snacks.
This year inflation has driven up the costs of everything from gasoline to food prices and everything in between. Many people love to eat chicken wings, chips and dips, pizza, and other fast-food snacks. The price of chicken wings has gone sky high, and avocados used to make guacamole are $0.89 a pound at many bargain stores. It is going to be hard to afford food for your family and if friends are coming over the costs goes up. A case of beer is around $15.20 leaving people to wonder if they can afford to have friends over and what to serve.
One great way to save money on guacamole dip is to make it yourself instead of buying premade. Instead of using just avocado, puree zucchini and broccoli and add it to your mashed avocado. This not only makes your guacamole cheaper, but also healthier, and lower in calories. There are also many varieties of chips, rice crackers and veggie crackers available which may be cheaper and healthier. Instead of buying a premade veggie platter make your own and buy your vegetables in bulk and chop them up at home. Carrot, celery, broccoli, and cauliflower are great to snack on and the leftovers can be used at another meal or to make soup.
Chili beans are always inexpensive, and a big pot of chili can feed a lot of people. Stews and soups are also great to make for the big day. Vegetarian burgers are cheaper than ground beef and they are easy to make, or you can buy some in the freezer section of your grocery store.
Think outside the box as you create a great meal for your family and friends for the big game. Have fun creating new and fun foods which will also help you save money throughout the year.
Love and best wishes,
Tracy
