There are many times in life where the pressure to get things done can be overwhelming. The to do list is long and it seems like it goes longer each day. What is the best way to handle the pressure in life? There a several things that I can suggest to help you accomplish everything on your list.
The first thing to do is make a smaller list of things to do which you can accomplish during the day. Having too many things on your list causes stress and a feeling of overwhelmed. The bigger the list of things to do the greater the stress. The chronic stress can cause weight gain, stomach and bowel problems, racing heart, panic attacks and even mental health issues. Many of your feelings can be from things you cannot control. Stress can leave you unable to function. The feeling can be overwhelming and unbearable when you are trying to do too many things in one day.
The way to reduce the pressure is to break down the to do list into a manageable number of tasks. Divide the list into things that need to be done immediately, done later and the master list or wish list of tasks that can be put off for another time. Things that need to be done immediately usually come up when they are not expected. One of the kids needs to come home from school, someone gets sick, or your car breaks down. These need immediate attention. The daily tasks like taking your children to school, going to work, and getting exercise and eating healthy will be done daily. Big jobs like cleaning out the cabinets, organizing the garage or repotting the house plants can go on a list for later. Make a master list or a wish list and do those tasks when you have some free time.
Focus on things you can control and not the things you cannot control. Be proactive and work on things you can control. This creates positive energy and frees your mind of unwanted thoughts.
Best wishes,
