KIDS MEALS
Most kids are back in school ready to take on the challenges of a new year full of learning, activities and fun. One of the best things you can do for your kids is read to them and help them with homework. The other is to feed them healthy meals.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day for kids to help them focus and have the energy they need to get through the day. There are many poor choices starting with anything loaded with sugar or is eaten with syrup, which is sugar. Kids will get a quick boost of energy from sugar and processed foods. This feeling goes away as fast as it comes leaving kids tired and unable to focus on learning.
Great breakfast ideas are 100% whole grains breads, cereal, and protein such as eggs, turkey patty or a smoothie with fruit and protein. Dairy products like yogurt, milk and cottage cheese contain protein and calcium which helps bones grow strong. The fiber from grains, fruits, and vegetables along with protein keeps kids feeling full and gives them sustained energy.
The best way to guarantee a healthy breakfast, lunch and dinner is to plan meals and cook them in advance. Reheat cooked meals or eat them cold and pack lunch the night before so the kids can grab it and go.
Have a great school year and enjoy learning.
Love and best wishes,
