One emotion that everyone feels from time to time is frustration. This is an emotion that can come out of nowhere or from feeling overwhelmed by the number of things on your to do list which ruins your orderly day. When left unchecked frustration can lead to unhealthy behavior like aggressiveness, smoking, drinking alcohol, and even drug use. Food can also be used in unhealthy ways when one is frustrated. Knowing how to deal with your feelings is the best way to keep yourself in check.
At the first signs of frustration stop and take some deep cleansing breaths. Breathe in through the nose for 10 counts and out through the mouth for 10 counts until your heartrate slows down and you feel in control. Rate everything on your list with a number starting with 1 for the most urgent. See how many things can be done another day or by delegating the task to someone else. The big stressful list is now broken down to manageable tasks which will keep your heart beating normally as you handle only what needs to be done at this time.
Feelings of frustration or being overwhelmed should be avoided and can be successfully addressed if you master these simple skills. Creating a life free of stress will help you get more done during the day. This is a great way to improve your heath and give you more time to enjoy life.
